I love Ash! The wood not only burns good but it also has a very pleasant smell while it's burning, almost nostalgic.
My family owned a tree service and my grandfather was the owner/operator. In the fall we began to split all of the wood that we had accumulated over the summer.
Most of the wood we split was hardwood such as oak, locust, ash, sycamore, hickory (bbq restaurants), and hackberry. I personally burned 2 cords per year when all of the kids were home.
There are very few things better than the smell of a wood burning fireplace.
